How it works

Gulag XR includes a short film that covers the Soviet repressions, video stories of the victims and witnesses, a research comic book with augmented reality, and a visit to a Gulag camp in virtual reality. Here, you can find all the material for downloading along with instructions and methodologies for teachers, teaching tips and additional information sources.

  • The programme is modular and can be used in various ways in classes. It can be adapted to a specific number of children and the time and equipment available.
  • The programme’s full version can be used on a project day or distributed over multiple classes, or it is possible to use just parts of it that will work individually.
  • In addition to online material specified below, you will need: a printer to print the comic books, tablets or smart phones for groups of 4–5 students (Android only for the time being) and a projector or screen for the videos. For virtual reality, you will need special headsets, but the programme can be used to its full extent even without them.
